Description
Honduras holds special meaning for me. I spent two years here as a missionary for my church. I learned Spanish here and met many great people. The country as a whole is poor and deals with gang activity in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. However, there are some beautiful gems here that are worth checking out. You will most likely want to stay along the north coast of Honduras and/or in Copan Ruins by the Guatemalan border.
Transportation
Flights to Honduras come mainly to Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. There are flights to Roatan but usually for more money. You can skip Tegucigalpa unless you have a specific reason to go there. Driving is chaotic throughout Honduras, but especially in Tegucigalpa. Renting a car is fine if you’re prepared for unorganized driving and have a good map handy. Taxis are an option as well for shorter trips.
